From serving as a front-line educator to working to ensure access to quality education, Amy Dean has spent decades working to improve our educational systems.
Dean served on the Board of Governors for California Community Colleges, which oversees 112 community colleges and is the largest system of higher education in the world. While there she helped create innovative workforce development initiatives, saving thousands of tax dollars and creating more effective investments in education and job creation. Dean has also helped design curriculum that ties relevant life experience to training and development to better prepare students for the jobs of the future.
An educator herself, Dean has been an adjunct faculty member at the University of Illinois School of Labor and Employment Relations, the San Francisco City College Labor Studies program and the Political Science department at San José State University. Dean has also been widely sought after as a lecturer at a range of colleges across the country including University of California Berkeley, University of Notre Dame, Cornell University and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, among others.
An outspoken advocate for the teaching profession, Dean has been called upon by some of nation’s most important teacher associations, including the American Federation of Teachers, to speak on leadership development and strategic planning.
